Town Farm Makes Pie and Eats Pie at Tuesday Market

Posted 9/3/2012 6:56pm by OONA COY & BEN JAMES.

Hey Town Farmies --

harrison with flowers

This is one of the wilder times of year around here -- crops to pull in, summer workers heading back to school or jobs, our kids back to school with excitement and nervousness, and we are crazy enough, in the midst of this, to organize a Pie Contest and Fundraiser at Tuesday Market. We hope you can come. Tuesday, September 11th. Make a pie, eat some pie, help us serve pie and take donations, take part in the awesome raffle. All of these things together help us raise our goal of $12,000 for our FoodStampsX2 program at the market.

If you are able to help out the day of the contest serving pie or accepting donations, please email us back. We're hoping to have people there betweeen 2:30 and about 6:30.

At market this week we will have:

Cilantro and Parsley

Green and Purple Beans

Asian and Italian Eggplants

Red and Yellow Bell and Sweet Jimmy Nardello Peppers

Red Russian and Green Curly Kale and Collard Greens

Red and Green Cabbage

Leeks and Garlic

Delicata Squash

Red Tomatoes, Heirloom Tomatoes, 2nds boxes of Tomatoes for $25

and, of course, Carrots and Beets. Maybe Some Fun Fuzzy Sunflowers, too.

Looking for recipes? This week's Tuesday Market recipes are for Stuffed Peppers and a Peach and Basil Pie with a Crumb Topping.

For CSA members, after a month of not updating the week's share, I did it this week. So here you go.
